Painted on my Heart is a song written by Diane Warren, who offered the song to Aerosmith after the success they had with IDWMAT. This song was finally done by The Cult for the movie ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’. This is the complete high quality version of the demo with the song ending properly instead of fading out. Possibly originally recorded by Tyler alone at Diane Warrens RealSong studios early 2000.
Columbia was supposed to do the soundtrack and Matt Serletic was supposed to producer the track for Areosmith; but then Aerosmith decided that it wasn’t for them at the last minute and Columbia decided not to do the soundtrack. So The Cult was the last minute replacement but the soundtrack went to “Island Records” (The Cult is not on that label). The song got no promotion, no nothing… and so, it didn’t become a chart hit.
Aerosmith version is more of just Tyler, as the demo was recorded at Diane’s home studio, Realsongs. I found a page, like ebay.com, that had a CD with the Aerosmith version of the song being sold as a promo CD at $70:
“AEROSMITH Painted On My Heart (2000 US 1-track demo Touchstone Pictures promo-only CD-R acetate as featured in the movie ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’ custom printed disc and title/track listing inlay stating Aerosmith demo for ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’).”
